A Beautiful Thought : Reconnection Comes Before Reinvention

A Beautiful Thought: Perhaps Reconnection Comes Before Reinvention..

Have you noticed how often we’re encouraged to reinvent ourselves?

New year – New You

A new chapter. A new version of ourselves.

A fresh start.

And whilst there can be something really exciting about embracing change, I’ve evolved and pivoted into many different versions of myself over the years too. Growth is natural, isn’t it?

But, I’ve also found myself wondering whether many of us are searching in the wrong direction.

.Sitting with woman in a coaching space. Chatting about how reconnection comes before reinvention.

Because when I sit with women in coaching, I rarely meet someone who needs to become somebody new.

I meet women who have quietly lost touch with themselves.

Somewhere along the way, life became full.

There were people to care for, responsibilities to juggle, expectations to meet, and so much of their time and energy was spent looking after everything and everyone around them that they stopped prioritising themselves.

Then one day… or perhaps over many days… they find themselves asking…

“When did I stop feeling like me?”

And through these beautiful spaces that I’m privileged to hold, it becomes quite clear that turning inward and taking time to reconnect first of all, may be the key to that reinvention… the pivot, the identity elevation… or whatever holds true for that woman.

Because only when we actually take the time to slow down, make space, sit with it, and ask ourselves the questions (or in my spaces, I’m asking the questions) do we start to connect with our inner voice, our dreams, our desires, passions, and what we’d like to experience next.

And it makes me ponder…

Perhaps reconnection comes before reinvention

Our inner world is rich with ideas. Our inner world holds the key to our soul purpose, our hopes and dreams, our life force energy.

I talk about this often.. the spark within!

The energy that lights us up and moves us forward. The energy that puts sparkle in our eyes, warmth in our hearts and smiles. The driving force that tells us when something feels good!

I believe that when we’re truly connected to this, things become more clear… we trust in our decisions, and perhaps we find ourselves pushing through comfort zones to experience something new, say yes to the things that evoke a slight fear (or is really excitement?) wear the brighter outfit, trust in our ideas to start the business, go after a new job, cut the hair, write a book… become an artist, begin a new hobby… or whatever else you may dream of…

Reconnection comes before reinvention – I stand by it.

If you have a few moments to take, where you can prioritise you, I’d like to invite you to try this simple exercise.

Sit comfortably, place your hands, or a hand over your heart space. Take a couple of deep breaths in and exhale….

Simply ask yourself these questions and trust in the first thoughts that enter your mind;

What do I need to leave behind to move me forward…

Where in my life am I abandoning myself…

What next step do I need to take that is connected to my spark within, my joy, my soul purpose?

Whatever comes up for you may simply be your inner knowing beginning to find its voice again.

You may even feel called to put pen to paper and see what else naturally pours through from your heart, through the pen…

My coaching spaces aren’t conventional.

We don’t begin with goals and plans.

We begin with reconnection.

. Reconnection comes before reinvention. A woman in a coaching space, reconnecting within. Listening to her inner voice.

It all starts within. So, if reconnection comes before reinvention (just my view)

Perhaps it can begin with you prioritising the moments to truly slow down and listen. A coffee, or tea outside in nature, listening only to the birds.

A bath without a phone or an iPad. A walk without a podcast… A moment to sit – guilt free without thinking of the next chore.

Reconnection comes before reinvention.

Just you and your beautiful, rich inner world.

Btw, I don’t mean every single time, sometimes the iPad in the bath, or a podcast on a walk are bliss too… it’s not about being perfect, it’s simply about making time.

You may even notice times when thoughts or ideas pop into your mind when you’re doing something slower but mindful… stacking the dishwasher, washing the pots, loading the washing, pulling weeds, watering the flowers… driving your car… some of my best guidance from within lands then.

I would always say, pay attention… your inner voice, soul, higher self.. however you want to think of her (it may be that none resonate – that’s okay)

I don’t believe these thoughts are random, and they may be leading you to your next step, chapter, pivot… or reinvention!

Perhaps today isn’t about becoming someone new.

Perhaps it’s simply about making space to hear yourself again.

Because perhaps… reconnection comes before reinvention.

If this resonated in any way, I’d love to connect with you or hear your thoughts.

With love, Katy
