Reconnecting to yourself is essential for your wellbeing.
Let’s be honest, there are moments when life feels full to the brim, where the world’s noise, other people’s energy, and the constant hum of doing can leave us feeling a little off balance.
We may notice that we’re more reactive, less centred, or simply not feeling quite like ourselves.
Prioritising moments of peace amidst the noise of a busy, modern life may at times feel like a challenge.
As a woman in midlife, we’re often in demand in many ways, and also much more connected to the noise of the online space, perhaps with work, school updates (if you have children in school, of course), and so much more…
If you’re feeling a little depleted or flat, please know that you’ve likely just drifted from your centre – something we all do from time to time.
The beautiful thing is, you can find your way back.
If this resonates at all keep reading.
I have some tips to share – tips that help keep me in the energy I like to be in, no matter what’s going on around me.
The important thing is carving out the moments for you, because YOU MATTER.
5 Ways to Reconnect to Yourself:
1. Step into Nature’s Stillness
There’s something deeply healing about nature’s steadiness, whether it’s a walk alone to decompress or a cup of tea in the garden, the natural world has a way of bringing us home to ourselves.
Notice and feel the elements…
The wind on your face and through your hair. A cool or warm breeze touching your skin. Refreshing, cleansing rain running down your cheeks…
Notice the sounds of nature, the scent around you… the trees, flowers, a frost if it’s early.
Wet grass and cow pats are a regular for me on the fields at present!
I joke, but connecting in with it all is incredibly grounding, and personally I find it to be a daily essential and as though I’ve pressed a reset button.
Fresh air and breathing space is the key – even 5 minutes listening to the birds can be enough, if that’s what time allows.
Whilst taking this time for you, notice and connect in with your breath.
This simple practice of connecting with your own life force, breathing deeply and with intention is incredibly powerful.
2. Light a Candle & Journal Freely
I always feel there’s something very cathartic that comes from lighting a candle and putting pen to paper.
A brain dump. Writing freely and allowing what’s held within to flow out onto the page, with no judgement or needing to make sense of it, can bring a sense of weight being lifted.
Think of it like an energy cleanse for the mind and a wonderful way for reconnecting to yourself.
A few prompts to help you begin:
- What am I ready to release?
- What do I need more of right now?
- What’s one truth I’ve been holding back from acknowledging?
The aim isn’t perfectly written words (seriously, you should see my journals!) – it’s about release and compassion.
3. Cleanse Your Energy in the Shower
Water is one of nature’s greatest cleansers, not just for the body, but for your energy too. As you step into the shower, set the intention that any heavy or stagnant energy you’ve picked up is being washed away.
Visualise the water carrying away what’s not yours to hold. Any worries, tension, or emotional residue, leaving you clear, calm, and rebalanced.
As it flows, give gratitude to yourself for taking this moment to reset.
4. Let Mother Nature Transmute What You’re Carrying
If you’re feeling heavy or overwhelmed, try this simple practice: step outside, place a hand on a tree or over your heart space, and take a few slow breaths.
Ask Mother Nature to take any energy that isn’t yours and lovingly transmute it back into light.
She knows exactly what to do with it.
Allow yourself to feel supported and held by something greater than you, connected to everything around you.
5. Reconnecting to Yourself Through the Power of Sound and Flower Essences
Sound and vibration have a direct impact on our energy. Play music that lights up your soul – the kind that makes you feel alive again!
Sing, dance, move your body, or simply close your eyes and allow the music to shift your state.
I’ve recently discovered Lainey Wilson and her song, Somewhere Over Laredo always lifts my vibe (but my son asked when I could play something different as it’s been on repeat!)
Anyone else do this?
And if you’re new to flower essences, they’re gentle natural remedies made from the energetic imprint of flowers.
They work subtly but powerfully to balance emotions and reset your vibration, helping you return to harmony from the inside out.
I’ve been incorporating them into my own life and work with clients, and the shifts they create are beautifully profound.
I particularly love one called ‘Living Life Lightly‘, a blend of flowers designed to lift your spirits when things feel heavy, bringing you back to a place of harmony, love, and appreciation.
An essence to bring you back to a place of joy in the little things, to feel playful and full of love for those around you and life in general.
I find myself singing more when I’m taking this regularly. In the car, in the kitchen…
It truly is a joy boost!
In this Blend:
- Edelweiss – opening to all that is, creating a new reality
- Wild Rose – coming back to your heart
- Harebell – realignment
- Cowslip – joyful playfulness
- Dandelion Seed – releasing expectations
- Willow – moving forward with grace
- East Water River – being in the flow

Coming Home, One Small Step at a Time
Reconnection isn’t something you have to force, it happens in the quiet moments, the tiny choices to pause and listen.
You don’t need an hour of silence or a grand ritual. You just need one conscious breath, one small act of presence, one reminder that you are still here.
So today, choose one of these practices. Allow it to bring you back to centre – gently, beautifully. and to the you beneath the noise.
With love, Katy
